This is a video recorded of me by my mother in my final hours.
I was initially diagnosed with alcoholic indused liver cirrhosis. Although abstained from drinking for several months beforehand my condition continued to worsen.
I was told a few months before I would not live long enough to recieve a transplant. a couple months later in my final hours me and my family were given the good news a donor was found... this is were all these story's become bitter sweet . someone had to die for me to live. to this person and there family I am only alive because of there gift and I am and forever greatfull. it turned out I have a very rare disease called budd-chiari syndrome which was only diagnosed after my transplant. Regardless of that drinking played a massive part. Alchole is by far the worst legal drug available everywhere.

Jaundice skin... Liver is failing... I'm a recovering alcoholic and my eyes were getting jaundice as well as my skin. Coming up on 9 years alcohol-free this July. I'm glad to hear you

My twin was on his deathbed weeks from dying. Poor thing he was afraid of getting addicted. He died at 56 years old, it’s been eight years since his passing. Till this day, I say it should have been me. He left his wife and five kids. He was funny and loved by many ❤❤❤❤😢

For those who do not have any medical knowledge, the reason his skin is so yellow is called jaundice. Jaundice is a symptom of liver failure. Not only does the skin become yellow but the white parts of the eyes (sclera) becomes yellow as well. Most of the time the sclera becomes yellow first. If anyone knows someone whose eyes are becoming yellow, please have them see a doctor. It's not only alcohol that can cause these problems. Hepatitis can cause this as well. There is also non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. I am glad this gentleman was able to overcome his alcohol addiction and was able to receive a donor liver. Most hospitals have a requirement that a person has to remain sober for a long time (4 months to 1 year) to be able to be put on a transplant recipient list. There are some alcoholics that even though they quit drinking, they die before they can receive a transplant because their liver is so damaged. Just because alcohol is legal does not mean it's safe.

My daughter is in the hospital in full liver failure from cirrhosis. As of Tuesday they gave her 3 to 4 weeks to live! She is severely Jaundiced. She hasn’t ever reached Sobriety. She is hoping for a liver transplant, but I don’t believe that will happen. She will not live long enough to get on any transplant list! My daughter is 38 years old. God knows I tried to get her to stop drinking. I am going to end this now as I am crying my eyes out.

Yes I survived by being given the best gift another human can give.. life

Im so incredibly thankfull to the person that gave me another chance at life but also remorseful as they had to die for me to receive this gift.

If I could I would love to met this person's family to whole heartfully thank them and also mourn with them for there loss.

You know what's crazy. My grandfather drinks and smokes heavily into his late 80s without any signs of stopping and he is still healthy as a horse... I still can't explain it.

I saw this skin color before I the hospital ward. It looks like kidney or liver failure induced jaundice. Wish you full recovery. Stay healthy.

Pain killers are the last thing they would give out when you are dying from liver failure that would just be like throwing gas on a fire.

So sad.. I had a dream I was told I would pass on in weeks. And I honestly was okay with it. I was looking forward to the next stage where all the pain, sadness, worry, anxiety, etc would all be gone. Knowing that every single living thing dies, it felt natural. But I am very sad, and sorry for everyone going through this. It's very sad and scary.

Cancer can make you jaundiced. I have Stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma cancer which has grown onto my liver & kidneys etc. I’ve not had alcohol in over40 yrs.

My husband died 7/21/22 forever 42 from alcoholic cirrhosis and ESLD his color was so sad and scarey 😭. He was 30 days sober to the day he passed. Your lucky you were able to receive the gift. Now cherish the 2nd chance bc Mark didn't he wouldn't of made it to the time he could even be considered. My ❤️ aches! The demon couldn't get me so he took the only thing that would hurt me. Hugs!

I'm glad you've recovered, may God be with you and never drink alcohol again.
I also had liver problems due to excessive alcohol consumption in the past and I was diagnosed with fatty and enlarged liver.
I took a break from alcohol for 1 year and also followed a diet to recover.
I had recovered well, the stupid thing was to start drinking alcohol excessively again this year and again I have similar symptoms as before.
Apart from discomfort in the liver, occasional malaise and the fact that I get tired quickly, I have no other symptoms, but I decided to give up alcohol again.
I know what I went through the first time and I don't want to go back there, it's a terrible experience. God help!

I’d watch videos like this if I want to go back to drinking. It makes me glad I quit drinking. I’ve fought drinking over 5 years and relapsed many times. In the past couple of years it seems like a success.

I am so glad you are doing well. I had a liver transplant 4 yrs ago. I feel the pain in your video. Sometimes the HE was too much but other times, I just felt too weak and tired to respond. God bless our anonymous donors. I write to my donor's family every year but so far I have not received a response.

How are you doing now?.
As an alcoholic i fully understand you, i'm a few days sober and withdrawing is hell on earth. Glad you're still with us.
