At the same time you need good people to create those good environments.

In order to be able to trust others we need to learn to trust ourselves and our intuition first. 💛

A healthy environnement is key I 100% agree. We can all be good people inside, but if the environment and the way we treat each other is not good, then obviously things won't be as good and genuine trust won't be present.

I frequently let me team members know that I will do my best to support them and will go to bat for them when they need help. In exchange, I give them the trust they need to be the professionals our industry expects them to be. When they succeed, we succeed as a team and that growth becomes a natural thing. Had a guy go from the last person you'd want on a project in a corporate setting to someone I can rely on and who is excited about sharing his experience with less experienced teammates. Everybody gets that sense of purpose and accomplishment as a result.

I’ve seen this with youth and young adults in the garden. Fascinating and beautiful to watch their transformation!

Trust and protection comes out of necessity; it doesn’t matter as much what you did outside of work or war, what matters is what you do now.

How I agree! Well said.
At the end is all about the causes and missions … It is the most important. Focus.

Trust also comes from within. Part of connection, so within, so without

Absolutely true especially if that environment is financially secure to allow room to breathe without the unnecessary stress so a moment is recognized and simply appreciated by knowing exactly what it means. Those who have a good vision for the future should be allowed to achieve that future knowing what it means, those people know why they do the things they do, when helping bares and cost, managing the cost becomes easier when trust is in place.

I am currently in a certification course and a survey was taken from my direct reports, peers, and bosses. There was also a self survey. My direct reports rated me so much higher than what my self assessment was. It’s all environment, trust, and having their back.

A truly good person is driving by morals and love to change the environment around them...

I love how he is always like "create a good environment " and never really tells anyone what that would look like, or how it might be done.

"Leaders sets the environment"
I couldnt agree more!
BUT if you happen to fall on the wrong side of leaders overseeing a team then your position is doomed, no way that anyone can thrive or succeed under such leadership. You may end up losing some of your best players in the team. Pay attention! Most of the time the senior executives steering the ship are unaware of whats happening down in the steamroom💞💞✌

Mr. Sinek is quite right on his identification of the environment as the potting soil for trust. From the videos I have seen of him though, his reference to "the military" seems to be limited to operators (combat arms, pilots and such) but it does not automatically carries over to every aspect of military life. It seems that the further you are from the front line, the environment he semms to draw from, changes drastically

It's also important to realize as a leader, if there has been a bad environment for years, don't expect things to turn on a dime. The distrust runs deep as your employees have likely been burned many times. So, you'll be fighting an uphill battle where you will have to be seemingly the only good person in a sea of people fighting for themselves for a while before they are likely to start trusting again.

Its creazy how the environment changes you. I see myself in my job and i dont recognize myself! Its true that for most jobs they want you to do things and not spect you to ask or find out other methods, but ive always been an thinking outside the box person, individual and looking for new methods, not accepting things as they are just because they are, and now I'm just alieneted, sad, plain and ive seen how my (not really good) self-esteem had dropped like creazy! Overworked, exhausted and whatever but a valuable worker...

SO close. But not quite.

Environment is extremely important.
But, unlike what he says, individual character IS a thing.

Both are true. It's not only environment. And it's not only personal. They overlap.
