Jeep,
We need help resolving a long-standing software issue in the 4XE while in FORM.

This is a great explanation of the issue. Thank you. My experience has been the definition of the problems with the 4XE. Every winter since I've owned it, the "hybrid" system becomes unusable at the first freeze and ONLY comes out when you reset the oil light (which I did not do because Jeep said that was bad). All the things that are supposed to clear FORM don't work and Jeep just tries to blame the owners for their driving habits without even asking what their driving habits might be. When their owners manual instructions didn't work, they just went back to the prior years and changed the manual without telling anyone (which still didn't work but was an amazing try). I was on board with things until they blamed me for 3 years without so much as a discussion. Thankfully, I have some really good data of FORM lights, temp, fuel usage, fuel age, MPG, and oil composition that I can share with the people that are going hold Jeep accountable. If they just owned the problem, there would be more money to make the next Jeep that much better.

Do I love my Jeep and the Jeep lifestyle? Yes. Do I feel like Jeep not only completely dropped the ball with the engineering but then chose to deny and obfuscate the issues rather than own it. Absolutely. Shame on you, Jeep.

Let's not ignore the fact that we've paid a premium for the hybrid/battery system and we can't use it 90% of the time due to FORM. I'm not trying to cause any issues, but we should not be convinced that this is acceptable just because Jeep gives us guidelines on handling this frustrating situation. I'm coming up on my 4th oil depletion since I purchased my vehicle in late September. It's at the point where my dealer is just resetting the service indicator when it states by Jeep that an oil change is required before resetting. I don't want to have anything to do with this system anymore.

Hey, I'm back.... Just got my 4th oil depletion/needs oil change.... 4th one with 560 miles on my Jeep. This is insane.

Why are you apologizing? I got one of the 1st Rubicon 4xe and since then besides the many recalls, steering wheel death wobble that they fixed twice and it came back after 6 or 7 months. Sudden loss of power in the middle of the highway, avoided a catastrophe by luck. They changed the battery car was gone for 10 days. FORM, the slightest drop in temp and good luck with driving on electric mode. And what Jeep did ? Increasing the Wrangler price. I am so disappointed. I still have another year to go on my lease and I am done with Jeep after so many years. I really love Wrangler but I am at a point of my life where I need the peace of mind and get what I paid for. They simply don’t care about their customers or the end users.

I've brought this issue to my dealer, I had video evidence, they didn't action it because I had a front grill cover on my Jeep. That Stellantis would say to remove the cover and try again. Unacceptable. It's a software issue. At least report the issue!

Just had this this past month. 70-0% oil life in like 3 days. Messaged Blair, received instructions on how to clear FORM. Took it to the dealer, received a printout of what FORM is. Total BS. We need resolution! Back in FORM 2 weeks after changing the oil. Never in FORM before 95B recall.

In Florida here got about 6700 miles on it and still have 45% oil life on my 24 Rubicon 4XE didn't realize how much this was an issue till now.

Sorry that’s the case. I live in central TX, had form once after not buying gas for 3 months. Knowing about oil FORM issues, I never short cycled it ever, if engine comes on I always run it until oil warms up to at least 170F, which sometimes means driving 10+miles when temps are low around 30s. It seems like they should have done more winter testing.

The 4xe was a dream car of mine. I finally have the means to get one, but after seeing all these problems you’ve had over the years, and watching this company gaslight, and blatantly ignore customers, I have to look at other options. Such a pity. I really wanted an electric Jeep

Mine goes into dealer tomorrow. The technician was eager to figure it out. He said they will be opening a service ticket with engineers to find them problem if he can’t. I will keep you posted.

Want to add on my first winter with my 2021, the oil drop was not an issues. It came on the second winters after a TSB update that was there to help with form. This cause the fast oil drop after the softwareul update.

The best solution…get rid of this POS vehicle and never buy or lease another one. That’s the only way they will actually care. It shows in how many issues these have one after another. I got rid of mine early on lease. Cost me a few grand and it’s well worth it. Grabbed myself a lyric for $250 a month cheaper than the jeep. It’s crazy.

When the oil life drops so fast after an oil change, what does the oil actually look and smell like? Is it overfilled and getting diluted with gas, or is the level correct and the color, viscosity and smell all normal. If it looks normal, I would reset the oil life, if not, and the oil is getting contaminated that fast (even faster than typical for a 4xe) then maybe it’s malfunctioning injectors or bad rings?

Why bother changing oil if the oil quality found good on physically checking?
