Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 29NOV2024

This morning's California Zephyr #5 arrived in Fort Morgan at 0636 MST (53 min. late). The power from P42s #5 & #170 brought the 8-car consist to a stop with car 7 to the parking area platform for passenger service to 1 detraining passenger followed by 6 new fares and a babe in a carrier boarding the coach for the trip west.
With the station work safely completed, the high ball was given and on a clear signal the Zephyr rolled west toward its next stop at Union Station in Denver.
My thanks, as always, to the operating crew for the greetings this morning.

Mike, I check the rail map early in the morning (eastern time) and see a pattern: #5 from Lincoln, NE, loses time to FM. What’s the general reason? Freight traffic?
