For as long as virtual desktop is supported on the original Oculus Quest, it'll still remain relevant.

Removing party feature sucks I’d be fine with them not adding any more features but removing that basic social feature limits its use a ton

Can’t make progress with old hardware. The Quest 3 leaks suggest the Quest 1 would hold everything back, having less than 1/3 the performance.

Honestly... I am surprised they dont just leave Legacy Party support?... Like have it use the old Party system and just not allow them to join new Party systems.

They can give a notification like... You cant join this lobby. When its a Quest 2 users party. Allow Quest 1 users to make partys but not join partys of Quest 2 users.

Really not much has changed, but since this is youtube everything has to be hyped so everyone is making videos about this non-event. I still use mine for Holofit and sometimes Bigscreen or Virtual Desktop even though I have a Quest 2 and Rift S. As long as the games continue to function it's no big deal as many releases aren't on the Quest anyway. I do worry that BigScreen will drop support as they did with the Oculus Go but that will be a long ways off. Possibly you could still use BigScreen though Virtual Desktop in that case. Personally, I've never used the Party feature even one single time lol.

maybe you could still use the quest 1 for pc vr. Believe it or not you can almost use the Go for some PC vr games even now.

Awesome points, Matt! I 100% agree about the party feature - it's broken and usually just leads to frustration. The fact I can use the existing apps and my PC over Virtual Desktop, I don't need to upgrade yet.

Software updates have fixed the party system on the Quest 2

But also it's still not too bad because you could still always play pcvr if you have one. For example I have lone Echo and I just used my PC to cast it over to my quest one and it works beautiful some likely going to turn it into my PC VR headset

I gave my mom my Quest 1 so we could play Walkabout Mini Golf together (she lives 300 miles away from me). I guess she'll be getting my Quest 2 when the version 3 comes out.
