The reason it breaks in the center most of the time is because inside the ring there is a cut intersecting both sides. If you have a Quest 1/2 or Rift S check youself... this is to prevent any serious damage to the controller by making some crunch points

I’m pretty sure you can get a free replacement if it’s exactly in the middle of the ring because it’s a known issue with the Q1 controllers. There’s a video Steve Knows made about it I think.

Same thing happened to me with my rift s controller. Works perfectly fine still, ended up super-gluing it back into place.

Thrillseeker did a test vis on the quest 2 and the quest 2 controllers can take quite the beating. Idk if the quest 1 is super weak in comparison or if you really hit it hard.

This exact thing happened to me but it was on my left controller and the crack was even in the same spot, i just taped it back together though

My controller is like this too. I barely hit my leg playing echo vr and it broke. The reason this happened is because there is a seam on the inside of the center of the ring and that can break very easily. If there is just enough impact, it will break through the seam no problem and then all of the power will break through the rest. Contact oculus support for a new controller and they will most likely give you a free replacement
