Please don't get discouraged, things are slow at first. But your explanation of things is spot on and so easy to follow. So please and thank you, there are a lot of people who need teachers like you

Really nice work. One thing my wife does is paint the pieces of wood on the trim that goes on the floor before you nail to the post to make it more waterproof. Thanks for the video.

Shoulda sloped the top of the trim instead of having it at 90 degrees to avoid water staying on top. Overall well done though!!

Try something old school that works on near everything. ! Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty ! I think it was the duct tape of the 1940 s . I ve used it to patch rotten door jambs, sills, old door mortises etc . Its a powder, mix with water and trowel it in. Don't over fill too much because when hard its like sanding concrete ! Its cheap too and dries fast !

Thanks for your video. I've got two patio posts that get hit with water daily and both bottoms of them are rotting. I'm gonna give this a try and let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for video. I would advise priming the trim pieces prior to nailing in place. Then paint with finish paint. That would help seal the bottom trim edges against water damage.

I have same issues, hopefully not extensive at their base on my patio, and will look into this method diy instead of hiring some one. Are there new products that you don't have to mix them by hands or no?
Why put the trims - more like cosmetic or help protecting the post?

Already had termite damage on fascia and other part. Folks, need to check exterior for terminate every year to prevent expensive repair. I did not do that and now I am paying for them.
You can simply poke wood areas with a long screw driver to inspect for termite.

Good job on the video. Very helpful and easy to do and save $$. Thanks

Good video. I sent it to my carpenter to repair some carport foundation posts. J

That post looked pretty beefy, so it's probably fine, but that wood epoxy isn't going to carry any of the load like the original post did, right? You basically have 1/2 the load support you originally did.

Can this same method be used for posts which are in contact with the ground?

The smart and durable way is by replacing the base with PVC.
