You forgot to mention the 3rd and best part of this whole story: Germans later invade the whole Roman Empire and conquer most of it, then they lead the Western Roman Empire into decline only to later revive it and troll all of Rome by creating the Holy Roman Empire that is based in Germany LOL (also side note the Germans decisively beat the Eastern Romans/Greco-Romans on their own yard during the 3rd Crusade)

Germanic tribes are not just modern day Germans. Germanic can also refer to people such as Anglos, Dutch, Austrians, and the Scandinavian countries(but North Germanic tribes didn’t have much contact with Rome).
