I checked out the album, and honestly, it was another letdown. The worst part is the mix—Floor's voice is totally buried by the orchestra, and the songs are just completely forgettable.

Great review! After you expressed disappointment in the singles, I sure didn't expect a positive review. I look forward to this. I enjoy the new Nightwish. They are not JUST the band of the famous Wacken performance. They have always been diverse. Every release there are those that freak out over the singles. They basically stopped the use of operatic vocals since Floor's first album in 2015. Floor does it only live on stage with the old Tarja songs. (exceptions: the end of Shoemaker and the beginning of The greatest show on earth).
Unlike you i was hoping for Floor doing more operatic stuff.

There, there it is, this Reactor gets the Art behind of creating the songs and using the different sounds on creating the atmosphere, feeling and story. Traditional way of creating songs, even the past NW songs, are in the past - why repeat yourself, when you can experiment new ideas, sound worlds and push the borders of what the Music can provide? I am also convinced that when you get to hear the whole album and it gradually opens itself to the listener, you will listen it multiple times and every time find new experiences. Btw. This analyses and review is the most deep, comprehensive, explanatory and useful I have ever heard in my life, no matter what Artist is in question, so I do respect this channel even more than ever, if it is even possible. Excellent and truly beneficial work from Reactor, thank you!

Timeless masterpiece which is all about time. Can't stop listening. Musically the best Nigthwish album so far and also one of the best music albums I've listened to. I was quite disappointed with H&N (and partly also with EFMB). But this is another level. There are no hits like Nemo or Ghost Love Score. This is no longer a symphonic metal album with individual songs, it's more about a 12-movement symphony where metal instruments and baselines are used. And I love that. I'm not sure every Nightwish fan can absorb this huge change. I like how it tends more towards classical music, which I'm also a big fan of. I also hear a lot of progressive rock elements, almost as if some of the songs were written by Pink Floyd. I like how Floor's voice is veiled, she sounds like another instrument in the orchestra and everything fits together like that perfectly. As for the live performance, this should only be performed as a whole with full orchestra and chorus (both proper sounded), or never.

Very interesting that the full album experience changed your mind on the singles and, as someone that enjoyed those clearly more than you did it really hyped me up for what's to come. I also fully expect to have my favorite songs from the album be others than the singles as that's usually how it goes for me with Nightwish.

Having been a big fun of the band for decades, I thought that they had reached their peak. I was completely surprised by this album! They have managed to surpass themselves again. What an absolute masterpiece!!! Careful! You have to listen to it more than once to appreciate it! This is different level of music!

I did not comment your reactions to the singles, but knowing quite well the band, I was sure that the singles would work way better in the whole album than as singles, and I was thinking that this album would look like Imaginaerum, in the way that there isn't any big hit or single, but a whole coherent album, really solid. I was especting that and you are confirming my thoughts.

I find it really cool that the album changed your opinion not only of the album itself but of the singles! Didn't expect you to like it. I found PotT cool but not mindblowing and TDO kinda lackluster, but AOOSI was great imo. Can't wait to hear the album! Seems we got a nice one coming.
