These three styles were seen and used in both Star Wars: Jedi Outcast and Star Wars: Jedi Academy on PC and later various consoles that ported both games. Also, this is what I loved about the old EU. It fleshed out so many things that went beyond the films and left lots of room for characters to grow.

I’m really impressed that Luke was able to master Form V by picking it up during his duel with Darth Vader as opposed to being formally instructed in the discipline

The Devs of Jedi Academy really did a good job with recreating these forms in video game format. They work exactly as described (although Force Speed is just all around helpful in that game but you DO get way better deflection with Fast style and FS combo).

I like to think that Luke would’ve reinvented or had come up with vaapad on his own. Like he would’ve realized the idea of balance and redirecting energy and the darkness in an opponent by himself through his eu battles.

Interviewer: Luke was using Vaapad wasn't he?
Writer: That's cool, yes that's cannon now.

I don’t think his three could actually be called forms 8-10. They are something new, much like his order and self.

In my opinion I definitely believe that Luke Skywalker had is own version of Mace Windu's Vaapad. If we take a look at Luke's duel against Vader in Return of the Jedi it was that version of Vaapad that overwhelmed Vader when he spoke of Leia turning to the darkside. Luke struck with such speed that Vader could not keep up and he had difficulty countering Luke's strike it was like Vader was seeing 100 or 1000 of Luke's strikes all at once. Luke definitely channeled his darkness into his lightsaber, and even after defeating his father Luke was able to pull himself back from the darkness using his version of Vaapad. He was indeed knowledgeable of it I would say at this point is where he learned it.

I've heard before that Luke used vaapad. I wonder if this was the source or if there is another source as well.

I dont feel like the 3 new forms are better than the 7 old. But I do feel they're much faster at giving new jedi a good overall basis to build from. when they were started with children to adulthood I think they had much more time to help a padawan find their own very nuanced style they excelled in. With adult students their overall base skill and motorskills started much higher as well so it was much more important to have them get up to snuff quickly

As George Lucas has stated before, Luke is the best duelist the galaxy has ever seen. I feel like a lot of people dismiss him when compared to Anakin (mortal). They're the same power level in the force, but Luke is the better duelist

Question for you guys : what Style would focus on the most ? And what kind of lightsaber form would you built from it ?

I thing I love about star wars is how both Luke and Anakin Skywalker did actual duels of trial by fire with both Dooku and Vader I think Luke should have done the seven forms of lightsaber combat instead because not all stuff was bad from the jedi order

Luke Skywalker is a hero to millions of fans worldwide! He bought hope to the galaxy. He helped his father redeam himself. He stopped the Empire. He never gave up. He is a hero. Its unfortunate Disney didn't respect the character 😔

I think the new forms are good for a jedi to grow quickly, but not stably. The simplified versions cause them to be incomplete, and each person has to fill them in. But keep in mind, most of these students are newbies. So they're pretty likely to fill in their style with lots of errors.

That's cool. This matches the "Stances" shown in the Dark Forces: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy games.

My father taught me when I was younger when it comes to combat learn all forms that you can never limit yourself to one style

It would make sense that luke could have found resources on the various formal light saber forms, including vaapad. But it does sort of make sense that he might have used such information as a loose guide, and developed his own style through having found his own path to balance in the dark and light sides of the force.

All I can think about is the styles were used in Jedi outcast when we played played as Kyle katarn
