In this episode, we go over the theoretical side of composition. Learning to observe the importance of focal interest and focal rest in an image is key to mastering compositions.

!! Upcoming BRAINSTORM classes !!

If you enjoy the design theory aspect of art, my upcoming (Oct-Nov 2023) class is heavily focused on letting you explore this stuff with a fun online class setting.

Be sure to check out the link in the description to my online Abstract Design Theory class coming up later this year. These classes don't detract from the free youtube content, but they do offer a fun chance to do a bunch of exercises and more targeted stuff with a group of other people. It's a good time.

This guy has got to be one of the best online art teachers I've followed, and I follow a LOT of artists

As a Graphic Designer, composition is one of the most important things in design that nobody is capable of explaining well except for you sinix, good job.

It’s definitely neat with such a technical and analytical approach. I’d love more videos like this :)

"this is why the rule of thirds exists" hit me like some illegal knowledge that I should've not to have acess to

This video was so helpful! Thank You Sinix :) I've tried to study composition in the past, but it was always so confusing. I've always heard to not put a focal point in the middle of the picture and things like that, but I never could understand why. I never saw anyone so straightforward and simply explain really how composition works and why it's needed until this video. Thank You for all your videos, I just recently discovered them, and have over the past month become so much more confident in my art because of your channel :)

Literally just got into drawing again and was thinking of your videos and trying out composition stuff. Amazing stuff, Sinix

undeniably the best (and simplest) guide for how to break the canvas aesthetically so that good compositions can emerge. i needed this video and i'm so happy to see new content from Sinix- it's always of great quality.

I appreciate the small free lesson on composition! When you're too broke for art school, these help a lot. Thank you so much for making these vids. It would be awesome to see more vids on technical aspects!

Great video! This is the kind of content desperately lacking on yt. Over and over it’s design 101, simple definitions of core concepts. Thank you for practical use, advanced theory.

I've always known composition exists, and I've always tried to understand it. knowing the rule of thirds exists was about the furthest I could get, though. But this video?

This video just explained composition perfectly to me. Like, everything made sense on a level I never even knew it could! I expected to just be aware of how composition works and to have to actively plan it out before I start working. I'm autistic, so that kind of thing is nothing new. It's rare I get to subconsciously understand something like that. Except, after watching this video I feel like I can imagine ideas in my head, with the composition already put into place??

It's insane, and it's not the first time you've done this. There's something about the way you explain things in your videos that just connects with my brain in a way few other artists can manage. I want you to know I've shared this video to every single art-related server I'm in because everyone needs to see this
