For some reason this is so true because we are just so fast so when we pick up the weights we already do 1000 reps in a blink of a eye, then you see us start to get tired. DEFINITELY TRUE❤❤❤😂😂😂

IT'S SO TRUE!!

I'm on a collegiate track team (for hurdles/decathlon) and we share the same gym for weight lifting. Us sprinters and jumpers will be out there pumping heavy iron, and these X-C guys will be flailing like stick bugs. It's amazing.

THERE IS NO SHAME THOUGH. Our team made it to nationals and one of them even got podium. So, their workouts, well, work out.

My gym teacher told me to do cross country out of pity. He saw that I can't hold a 5 pound weight and told me to join the runners because I can hold my breath for an extended period of time.

As a cross country runner in jr high I see this in the weight room. I am one of the strongest upper body ones there. You got some nerdy sophomores who can’t even lift the bar. While you got me over there whose max bench is over their body weight. I weight 105 and I benched my body weight. But I had the desire to not be a skinny runner 😂

It depends. To be top level at cross country/ long distance running, you have to do at least some form of weight training or at least calisthenics to help with speed, stability, and reduce the risk of injury. But for lower level runners this is probably true.
