Honestly reminds me of this one guy I met and had known for like... a week. Not even a full week in he asked me if I'd be interested in dating him or his friend, I kinda laughed it off and ignored the question, they did to, so I figured hey, it was a joke. About a two or three days after that, he asked me again, I once again switched the topic and sort of nervously laughed the suggestion off, not wanting to answer. A day later, he got really aggressive and DEMANDED to know if I would consider dating him or his friend, I just sort of chuckled nervously and told him no, I didn't even know them, we were acquaintances, not even friends yet, and I wasn't comfortable with being asked that so many times after just meeting. He got pissed off and started yelling at me, calling me a bitch and all sorts of things, he even said he tried to stalk me on social media to find pictures of me (I've never really exuded confidence in my appearance, so I don't take pictures of myself, nor post them online for that matter.) and I was like dude, WOAH chill tf out.

I mean yeah, I can take the blame a little, because I tend to be a very open person, especially if I enjoy someones company, maybe he took how easy it was to chat for me taking an interest in him, but I think it should have been obvious that I wasn't interested. I didn't even know him, and it's not like we were on a dating app or anything, we just met and started having friendly chats and playing games online together, like a lot of normal people do when they group up to play games and help eachother out for achievments or in-game curreny and stuff like that. It had never once gone into the direction of anything that could have been considered "romantic", or even close to being interested in him.

_There's Something About Mary_ is a particularly egregious example in which everyone is literally going to extremes stalking "Mary" - including the *protagonist* and he's rewarded in the end by winning her over.
And then you get "nice guys" saying "I'm romantic" when what they mean is they stalk women and badger them constantly because their idea of romance comes from shitty movies and songs that all push the narratives of "if you chase her long enough, you'll win her" and "if she sleeps with someone else, she's a slut".
