In my country, there is an adorable nursery rhyme about a hedgehog running and rolling to get sweet pears and apples onto their spikes... I spent 40 years believing that is something hedgehogs do. I mean, I knew they are omnivores who also eat earthworms, small snakes, mushrooms, and drink the milk we leave out for the cats and so on, but ... I really don't get how these people think that being nice translates to sexual attraction and also that they are nice, I mean half of the time they basically admit to playing a charade to get women and sorry that doesn't work on nobody and everyone who ever got to socialize knows that, heck I know that and I would literally press a button that exchanges all human for random mammals so I can hug them and don't have to deal with humans anymore, I am really not good at this, but they, they wanna get rejected you can't tell me otherwise, everything else just makes no sense anymore to me.

I just don't know how to get it through to people like this that 'nice' is not a personality, nor is it making an effort to not be rude or abusive and expecting to be rewarded for it, or weird faux-polite courtship behaviours gotten out of fantasy novels or roleplaying.

There's a formulaic sort of solicitous politeness they use and think is 'being nice', while they don't listen to the person they're trying to court about what they might actually like.

I swear, these guys think of women as being like instances of the same video game boss instead of individual people - you just have to find the right combination of buttons to press to defeat them!
No way the next one you meet might like a thing you tried unsuccessfully before - they're all exactly the same organism hurr b'durr. 9_9
