And the fact they paired the hottest (straight) dudes in hollywood was a miracle.

Lestat has always referred to Louis as his lover

It wasn't Neil Jordan....it was the source material. Interview (the book) was accidentally gay (Anne Rice used Louis to represent herself and Lestat was based on Anne's husband...so they behaved like a married couple because they were) but the Vampire Lestat (published in like 1985 or 1986) was written intentionally gay ... from Lestat's mortal relationship with Nicki to his relationship with Louis that carried on right up to the next to last book where they were telling one another that they were the loves of one another's lives.
The movie is gay, the show is gay, because the books were gay. Lol

They looked too good that even straight men cant deny it. It was their "no homo" card.

Don’t even get me started. The last scene with Louis and Armand where they’re like 🤏🏽🤏🏽🤏🏽 just to kissing each other- DONT EVEN-

Perhaps look into the previous attempts at making the movie where Anne Rice suggested casting Cher as Louis instead of a man. Cher personally spoke to Anne Rice and said it would be a grievous mistake to change the sex of Louis and shy away from the homoerotic nature of the book.
By the time they were making the ‘94 film the director, writer and cinematographer all leaned in to the homoerotic nature that the books were suggesting.

The fact The Vampire's can't have sex in this "World" shows the frustration they carry!

And thing is even Anne Rice knew bc she was like "we need to turn Louis into a woman because ppl wont let this slide" and yet!! Cinema

The TV show they went all out on their relationship and I'm here for it
They couldn't really do that back in the 90s

. This remake is doing their love story justice finally

I do believe Tom Cruise did a great job at portraying Lestat. He was able to convey the character very well. Brat Pitt (I am bias), he is the sexiest vampire lol Twilight...Who??!?! What is that? 😂

I still remember Norm MacDonald’s joke on SNL Weekend Update when he “reviewed” Interview with the Vampire:

Not gay enough.

Lol

I the book it's very explicit the love that they feel! It's beautiful I really recommend it! It's all about love and not sex

I’ve been saying this since the movie came out. I was 17 the year it was release and I honestly can’t count the number of times I’ve seen it. I know every line of dialog, I’ve memorized every frame of the movie. And I still watch it. It’s like my blanky at this point…I’ll turn it on while I take a nap.

I rewatched it again for the first time in years and years the other night, and you're so right. They did it eloquently to "pass it" for the masses, but yeah... It was way ahead. Anne Rice had a queer son and she herself was so open minded... She was able to write it truthfully

well in the books it’s much more direct than the did in the movie but i loved that it came across in the ‘94 movie because you know they were probably walking a fine line at the time for what they thought the general public would be okay with.
