I think the biggest issue people have with not being willing to switch from Chrome to Firefox is that they have no idea how it works. Firefox functions relatively the same, you can import everything from Chrome, and if you don't like the button layout you can move them around to be less cluttered. It took me a few days to get used to Firefox and probably a month to switch off Chrome entirely, and I don't regret it.

So… techies who work for a tech review firm don't realize that Firefox synchronizes with an ID the same way as Chrome… and uses whatever search engine you want… AND isn't necessarily archiving your data in Google mines…

LTT should do an honest, in depth browser comparison video. A lot of the chrome features mentioned in this video is actually available in Firefox.

The thing I take away from this video is how unwilling people are to change their habits. Most of their excuses are solved. Most browsers have an easy migration, syncing and are cross platform. I was amazed most by Andy's comment at 0:50 Does he really think Google is only available on Chrome? He works for a tech company. Firefox uses Google too, nonetheless, you can change the search engines in every browser. Also, most of the design differences are available in other browsers. People just don't know how much they can change in the preferences...

I switch to Firefox about 5 years ago, and it's been really convenient for a weird reason; I can now have work and life separated by an entire app. Chrome for work, Firefox for fun. I'm a Windows and Android user, but I really dig this channel for keeping me up to date on the other side of the pond. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I might be interested in a Windows version one day!

It took me 10 minutes to switch from Chrome to Firefox... and it has all the same features. You can export your bookmarks between the two. What "hassle" are they even talking about?

Until the last part, I questioned why Edge isn't mentioned. it has vertical tabs, easy synchronization, supports every device, and has split view and collections. I get that it's just redesigned Chrome but Microsoft for once seems to care about this product constantly tweaking and adding features which is not something you can tell about Google. Arc seems nice but it is a niche product and a lack of support outside the Apple ecosystem will just hurt potential adoption.

I'm glad you talked about it using Chromium and how Google is dominating the web. That's a very important issue that must be addressed

0:50 it’s weird that younger people don’t seem to understand the difference between a search engine and a web browser. You can set Google as the default search engine on any browser you choose. Although why you’d want to use Google in the first place is another matter.

I've always used Firefox on desktop. I never switched away, even when it went through its rough patch. For a while it was stubbornness and a commitment to its openness, and it still is, but the killer feature is the Tree Style Tabs extension. Total game changer as someone who keeps a lot of tabs open and can follow many diverging paths while browsing.
On iOS, I used Safari back when I had to (maybe Opera Mini for a little in there), switched to Firefox for a while for syncing, but recently got fed up with how buggy it is and switched back to Safari, though I still keep it installed so I can send tabs to my desktop through the Share sheet.

Finally some more Arc coverage! Been a long time Chrome user. Took me 30 minutes to switch to Arc and I've loved the experience.

The fact that it runs on chromium is a dealbreaker for me, but I’m really glad that channels like this bring it up and talk about how chromium’s prevalence affects the internet, even if it’s only briefly mentioned.

I just switched from chrome to firefox, and it's extremely refreshing. Google rolling out their "privacy sandbox" with it being on by default was the last straw for me. The only feature I miss from chrome is being able to search on youtube directly from the search bar. Besides that, I am a happy Firefox user! The switch was shockingly painless and the UI is very similar to Chrome, making it very familiar. I still have all my bookmarks and everything syncs perfectly between my desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone. Highly Reccomended

That being said, I REALLY like Arc's UI. Modern displays have more room horizontally than vertically and it's time UI better reflects that. Vertical space is precious, so putting all the tabs on the side makes complete sense to me. This is what is most attractive about Arc to me. I would LOVE to switch to Arc, but I just cannot right now, nor do I expect to any time soon.

I run Windows, Android, iPadOS, and Linux Mint. So, until they have TRUE cross platform support, I am just going to be jealous on the sidelines

I use Firefox for everything. Adblock works on mobile. Everything syncs. I can force desktop view because so many websites are broken for mobile regardless if you're in chrome or not.

This whole video: Arc!
Comments: Firefox

Imagine people working for a tech company not realizing that Google is the default search engine for Firefox. And that Firefox has all the same cross platform functionality with saved passwords (even though you should be using a manager like BitWarden) and synced bookmarks...

Big fan of Arc. It completely solved my tab hoarding and I love the organisation features. The Windows version can't come soon enough! (I've heard great things about SigmaOS too, which I understand to be similar.)

It's good to read the comments and see that many people are waking up to how good Edge is now. It had a rough start, but they quietly improved over time to the point that it's packed full of features (read aloud, translate, grouped tabs, collections, pdf markup, photo editor, rewards, shopping coupons, etc.) but at the same time is still pretty quick and doesn't use a ton of memory. And the Ace up it's sleeve is the integrated AI sidebar. You don't 'have' to use all the features, but they are great to have if you need them.

Chrome is ridiculously over-rated. It was fine when it first came out, but it pretty much just stood still in time. It's pretty much living on name recognition alone. Many browsers surpass it in features. I bought a new laptop a few months ago and didn't even bother downloading it. I'm just using Edge now... though I'll probably download Firefox or something as a backup. Just my $0.02.
