The dislikes are from the Google employees that used to see memes with us

If cutting down Chrome's appetite is a big concern (like if you're on a weak computer, 4GB RAM, etc.) you can also try the Chrome extension, The Great Suspender. Chrome actually already suspends tabs but sometimes it might not be as powerful as it should, so this extension solves that by putting the power into your hands.

Tab suspender such as the The Great Suspender, reduces Chrome's memory and GPU usage by suspending tabs that are not used.

I've stopped using Chrome as it suffered from lags and heavy cpu/ram usage. I finally switched to Microsoft Edge and I gotta say the experience is much better.

Free the web, and move away from Chrome.

Try to use Tab Suspender.
What it does is they'd suspend the unused tabs that you have opened before so they won't consume any CPUs.
Works like charm for me

this feels like something i would see in elementary school - though not as good as "don't copy that floppy"

Yeah I did the switch a few months ago to Edge! Loving it! 😎

I know this is an older thread, but I just wanted to say that I've been having problems with Chrome causing my fans to run almost constantly and slowing my (desktop) down considerably. After trying all the fixes recommended here and on other numerous websites, I finally did a reset of Chrome (which I had been hesitant to do as I was afraid I'd lose bookmarks, etc), and guess what? That totally fixed the issue. I simply had to enable my extensions and a few other simple tweaks. This worked for me; I hope it works for someone else!

Edge has gotten really good over time. I have no reason to use Chrome now since Edge is basically the same but better!

I find I have to go wipe out cookies every once in a while.

Tip 5: There is an extension that puts unused tabs to sleep or another one that closes all selected tabs and saves them for 1 click re opening

Have heard of this issue many times online, but never had this myself. With my macbook pro 8 GB, I am able to open 16-17 tabs, with HD video playing in one of them, 2 vscode window, 2 android studio windows, emulator running, postman, slack, teams and clickup also running...

Step #5: Upgrade your RAM. You don't need an expert and it's super easy to do. Just follow the instructions on your laptop/desktop on how to!

A Microsoft expert recommended using Vivaldi. I have Edge too and it does the same as Chrome.

I upgraded my 2012 Macbook Pro’s ram from 4GB to 16GB. It was super easy to do an made my whole computer faster. Now chrome runs like a brand new car off the lot.

Excellent. I thought it was just me. Thank you. (Ps: who knew that Chrome had a built in task manager? How well hidden it is!)

If you own a macbook, any macbook, switching to safari will dramatically increase battery. BUT i do think chrome will address some of this by the end of the year.
