Hong Kong records winter's first bird flu death

Hong Kong has seen this winter's first bird flu death,... which is also its first and only human case of the disease this season.
According to local media on Tuesday, the 75-year old man was infected during a visit to neighboring Guangdong province in mainland China last month, where he bought a chicken from a market.
Suffering from chest discomfort,... the man was taken to hospital upon his arrival back in Hong Kong earlier in the month.
He died on Sunday after testing positive for the H-7-N-9 strain of bird flu.
More than 50 people who had contact with the victim, including people who lived with him, have been placed under medical surveillance.
