Grow your own Spinach! #shorts

Spinach are great plants that tolerates an almost fully shaded area, really easy to grow and very productive!

The leaves could be used fresh but also, as the plant is so productive, there are many ways of preserving, freezing or dehydrating this leafy green for later use.

It’s a really cool tolerant plant, which makes it the perfect candidate for your shady garden.

You should start it indoor and plant it in succession. What it means is that usually after 2-3 weeks since I planted some, I direct sow some more so I can harvest in waves rather than a lot on a single time.

When it’s really cold, they get even more sweet! It’s a defensive mechanism to fight the freezing weather!

Do you have more tips to use spinach? We end up with too much constantly which makes a lot of it go bad :(

Grow causcasian spinach and good king henry spinach there perenial spinach that are very cold hardy and it biologically related to spinach. New Zealand spinach is very good to but technically it more closely related to ice plants but still very good spinach substitute. New Zealand spinach isn’t as cold hardy but you can take cuttings inside to grow in the winter. All of them are heat tolerant and don’t bolt a lot and they don’t die when they bolt. New Zealand spinach tastes good all year.
