Fun fact: one time my cat crippled a baby bird, and the mother still loved it.

I’m surprised people actually believe toads/frogs give you warts. I’m a frog owner and I’ve also held over hundreds of different frogs and I’ve never gotten a single wart.

Kinda strange the when me and my brothers found a toad and i made them pick it ip the both warts, i really wanted a wart too for some reason because i like pulling of scabs and i thought a wart would be a super satisfying scab, true story i was weird

I’ve learnt that if you touch a baby bird or an egg that is healthy the mother will take it back, but if it’s unhealthy the mother will reject it because she sees no point in reviving it if it’s going to die anyway, and I adopted a dead egg 💀

Yes, frogs don’t actually give you warts…

But toads do have poison glands on the sides of their heads

Birds tend to identify their chicks via sight rather than smell, so they won't abandon the nest if they smell you. However they will absolutely abandon the nest if they see you handling any of the chicks or eggs, and attempt to make a new one.

I heard if you touch a baby bird with your bare hands you'll get a disease or infection not the mother regecting it lmao

Yeah, but birds might still abandon their nest and young when they realize it's not a safe place.

In terms of the first one I would like to add more information to that; while yes birds will not smell human scent on their young, please do not seek out bird nests in the wild, and do not tamper with wild bird nests. If a mother or father bird sees you around their nests too much they may abandon their babies out of fear. That being said, if you find a baby bird on the ground, just try put it on a branch and hope for the best, or take it to a rehab center for birds. Do not try to raise the wild baby bird unless you are experienced and have intentions of releasing the wild bird after rehabilitation.
