Skydio 2 Crash Update

This video is a follow up on the Skydio customer service to my Skydio 2 crash in the James River. I was informed by Skydio Customer Service that they are going to replace my Skydio 2 due to a bug that caused the crash. The latest firmware update has resolved the issue of not returning home when it encounter a malfunction.

For a passionate flyer, losing a drone is and feels terrible. I'm very glad that it finally was resolved, and Skydio is doing the right thing for you, shipping a replacement unit!

I had a little trouble contacting Skydio, the web site kept asking for my business email. And I don't have one, so I when for a Mavic Air 2. It arrived in 7 yes 7 days to me in the UK. At the same time, I watch the whole thing on your video. So I had twice the mixed emotions. Thank you for your update, I may have stripped off an dived in after the dam thing.

It appears the same exact thing has happened to me. It just started hovering I could not implement any controls at all, it was hovering next to my house. I did get a notification that obstacle avoidance was turned off, of course, you can not do this yourself so it must be a bug. It was too high to grab it by hand, eventually it drifted into the house and crashed to the ground. This happened on my first flight. Skydio seems to be looking into it now, and I'm confident they will replace it. My drone is not heavily damaged and took the crash well, it should still fly. However, it would be nice to have a unit that is not scratched up as it should not happened in the first place! Long story short, I am assuming this bug is still present. Hopefully, it is sorted soon! Thanks for sharing your experience and good luck!

Best of luck @Duranfly ... I am real curious as to see future correspondence from the people @skydio !! On top of that... I am curious to hear a possible explanation as to potentially what has really happened to cause this tragic situation to occur... Absolutely heart wrenching to watch this :(

I told u they would replace it, I knew they would. Skydio and autel , stand by their word and have excellent customer service.

Couldn’t agree with you more, the S2 video and photo quality is breathtaking and hands down the best out there IMO.
My Air 2 serves me well, but the richness and depth of the skydio 2 is something DJI should strive for.

I did a quick lookover of your Instagram account and you have some impressive night time drone shots in there. I am wondering how you got a "day time waiver" from the FAA. I am a Part 107 certified UAS pilot and every day time waiver for which I have applied has been denied ... with, of course, no explanation as to why each was denied. So, I would be very interested in you posting a video showing the steps you went through to succeed! Thank you.

Do they recommend S2 above water? I'd like to use it exclusively for this but concerned after watching your video.

Congrats and KUDOS to Skydio 2 for standing behind their warranty. To me that says ALOT about Skydio as a company. We look forward to seeing more Skydio2 content on your channel once you get your new S2.
