I got the Skydio 2 back yesterday! Charging the batteries and pared the remote and beacon, there are some software updates to do and then I will take it out for a test flight! Skydio was very reasonable with the repair cost! I am going to price some drone insurance costs just in case! Great to have the Skydio 2 back and looking forward to filming again.

Wow, that was definitely a case of bad luck with just one thin branch sticking up. But it goes to show that the thin branch/power line limitation of Skydio is always gonna be a game Russian roulette even when you think you are being pretty safe with it. Just the nature of the beast. The irony is that you will see a lot of Skydio 2 videos with reckless owners getting very lucky flying through a maze of power lines, while you were flying in a much safer location but unfortunately managed to hit the only isolated thin branch around. Bummer!

Wow that sucks...And Skydio advertises their drone as "not being stupid" like other drones

Dam that sucks but yep anything super thin the drone can not see. Be mindful of your environment even though its easier said than done. Im guessing you also had the height floor setting off as well. I left mine on just for more added peace of mind. Bummer this happen. Skydio we love your product but lets get better these drones are not cheap!

The Skydio is your basic "talking dog". The thing about talking dogs is to be amazed that they can speak at all and not be annoyed that they occasionally mumble.
I'd like to try one, but here in Virginia it's basically wall to wall trees.

My crash cost me 586 bucks to fix with Skydio. But it shoots awesome video and I couldn’t just let it be. Now I’m afraid to fly it thigh, so much freaking money.

That was bad man, felt really bad seeing the drone crash! Thin branches are its weakness-would scout the area first b4 heading out and id fly it a little bit higher if there are too many obstacles. How much was the repair? How long? Ty and tc!

I sometimes had the same bad luck, if I flew the skydio in open waters in the middle of the ocean, somehow it would also hit a thin branch sticking out 🤣🤣🤣

That sucks dude!! That Ocotillo just happen to be on the way!! What part of Az is that trail you’re riding? I live in northwest Peoria where I mostly ride my mountain bike. Had my Skydio2 record some of my ride, so far had only one incident where the drone just took off flying straight heading nowhere before I canceled it with the Beacon! Good luck!

can't you set the setting to fly a little higher? I know there are branches out there that even we can't sometime see ourselves

Yep .. You can not used it like that.. Side or front recoring in that area only rear back at you.. I want to buy it but I don't now

Damn, that sucks. Sorry that happened. it's unfortunate the drone is so vulnerable to thin branches like that - especially since it seems you got pretty unlucky that it happened to encounter that one. I really hope Skydio can improve thing branch avoidance in firmware updates.
