Skydio needs GPS at both beacon and drone for relative positioning. If either are lost, confusion ensues. Now that the trees are losing foliage, crashes are more likely when flying low. Pilots need to take both of those factors into consideration, and adjust drone height accordingly. Metallic barriers are a major cause of GPS signal loss (your light bar it is taped/attached to?), so next time keep the beacon away from metal. RF has its

Great Job Ken, I think the Skydio needs more AI training, It looks like the beacon lost GPS lock then when the beacon regained GPS location was off by a number of meters. Skydio needs to teach it's drones what trees are and what a hazard they are.

Skydio 1) Make sure the phone is connected to the beacon 2) make sure that phone Wi-Fi auto connect to drone is OFF and 3) auto connect to beacon is ON!

Don’t own the Skydio but coworker does. I have a Mavic 2. Don’t think I will ever completely trust the auto tracking feature on any drone. I had a failsafe with a FPV drone and when I used lost model finder on the goggles, the trees made it appear that the signal was coming from multiple directions due to the multipathing. I would suspect that to be the issue with the beacon on the Skydio but have no clue why the vision sensors failed to work properly.
