removing the buttons is a big mistake. the only improvement here is putting the seat controls on the door, MB style

Bring back physical buttons. Think about the driver’s needs not maximising your profits, BMW. Did you really identify the majority of customers want touch screens. Once upon a time BMW iDrive always got the best reviews.

I see you can now get Apple map navigation on the driver display when using carplay navigation. Can you also get Waze there too?

Struggling with mine ! Sports mode keeps engaging when not programmed to do so, Navigation engages randomly when not asked to ? The key is not recognising my driver profile etc.

Has the Bluetooth interface improved? When you connect an iPhone via Bluetooth and list the content of the phone. In system 7 When you choose Podcasts you just get a giant random list. Why does it not work like many others from VAG GM Mazda etc that group by series and list the episodes within each in oldest to newest order which is just what you want. Thanks

I'm waiting on a UK order (another 9 months) for an M240i and if they change to this, they can keep it. Don't like that one bit!

Having owned BMW cars for the last 30 odd years it might be time to change brands. Changing my X6M50D soon for an M4 but after that if BMW have that cheap, bad looking screen I'm gone.

Oh no! I thought BMW were staying sane instead of following VAG down this ludicrous path. I have a new M440i Gran Coupe on order, which I assumed would stay with idrive 7 (as I tested). I see that now gets this ridiculous tech overload. People want BUTTONS. They're way easier and less distracting to use. I have to think hard whether to cancel this car now, as I hate the look of this.

BMW iDrive with Operating System 8 is the worst i have seen and looks like a gaming screen BMW should give this system as an option and not as a full only system it is one ugly piece of gaming screen.

Damn idrive 8 is such a step backwards from 7. This looks more like the crappy Merc system. Idrive 7 had the perfect mix of hard buttons and software.

And I also hate the seat toggles being on the door, again like Merc. Ugly buttons you press one time then program into memory and forget they exist. Why do they need to be up next to the door handle you use everyday. Makes absolutely no sense. BMW shouldn't pander to idiot Merc drivers who need seat buttons under their nose.

And the drive select button is meh, even worse then the nubbin in my 992 911.

But by far the most offensive change is the lazy design of just sticking a big ugly looking ipad on the dash. Even worse then Mercs poor attempt at the same thing. Idrive 7 integrate the screens in nice sporty bezels and a cluster gauge that reduces glare while having a classic gauge look. This is hideous, lazy, looks like cost savings gone wrong.

Massive step backwards BMW! Shame!
