How Do Infrared Cameras Work?

This is one of my cameras. It's great for general and casual picture taking, and I have a general idea on how it works. But when we start talking about infrared cameras, my mind goes blank! How does a camera work which is detecting light that the eye cannot see? Sounds supernatural, doesn't it?

So here goes. . . infrared cameras are instruments which can detect infrared energy through a lens, and the camera then interprets that energy and converts it into an electronic signal. That electronic signal is then processed to create a thermal image. Infrared cameras have lenses just like regular cameras, but the lens focuses that infrared light onto an infrared sensor array. Thousands of sensors on the array convert the energy, and the energy is converted into an image.

Not so complicated, right? Well the important thing to remember is that this a very, very useful technology that we are using to help you in many ways, such as energy audits, heat loss detection, electrical component malfunction and even the detection of mold problems in difficult and hard to reach places in your home or office.

Common mate, work out a shorter channel intro animation for short videos, does it really have to be a channel intro animation over 10% of your video. Let's think further please!!! Basic...
