I am a proud owner of a TigerLake 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 with Intel iRIS XE graphics and so far, I am very proud! I was laptop shopping when Dell started to integrate their laptops with the 11th gen CPU's. Very fluid and smooth for my workloads. Thanks Intel!

Tiger Lake and Rocket Lake are based on Ice Lake SP, which was already 2 years old at this point. And their IPC isn't that much faster than Comet Lake, which is just 2015 Skylake. Only with Alder Lake did Intel truly become decent again.

I don't really understand why i5 11th gen has lesser thread compared to i5 10600K, which is better for performance ? I intended to use it only for software engineering, not gaming

I can understand that 10nm yield is still problematic and it is more favorable to focus 10nm on mobile. But I like what I'm hearing about Tiger Lake, so how about back porting to 14nm 8/10-core? including superfin

Apple Silicon M1 : i7/i9 performance in a i3 thermic score. No heat, no fan, no noise, cheap.... the future is ARM.

11th gen is the biggest performance leap? What are you talking about?
i9-10900k often beats the i9-11900k in benchmarks. The 11th gen i9 has 2 fewer cores.
