Its coming across like a Star Wars version of STar Trek Prodigy perhaps with a bit of Voyager thrown in.
Here let me help the ship's astromech is damaged during the escape and they need to either repair or replace it if they want to find a way back home.
Attacked by pirates they jump to safety but their navigation is messed up leading to them misjumping and landing on a world after narrowly avoiding certain death.
They now have to repair their ship before even attempting to find a way home.
Somehow I doubt they have thought this through properly but nobody said I couldn't hope they prove me wrong now did they?
