You know we could just have it that Ortolans are two subspecies. One with arms and one without.

Being not from the US and having never visited, the suburbs thing feels really weird. I like how it feels familiar to Alex who must be used to that, but to me it's as alien as any other Star Wars planet. I don't know if I can properly explain it, but that imagery and vibe are it's own genre of fantasy film to me, because they are not relatable at all. This comment might seem negative, but those kinds of movies are fun and I'm looking forward to how Skeleton Crew's gonna be

I think Jod is going to be like Long John Silver in Treasure Island. He's the villain but he also genuinely cares about the kids, teaches them some things, but he's in it for himself and he'll screw those kids over to get what he wants.

You just know George and Steven will love this.

I like when we get to explore other parts of people of the SW galaxy even when it doesn't feel right. like the 50s bikers in Mandalorian. its a whole galaxy, there will be suburbs in at least a thousand planets

Super cool to have a droid named after Captain Hook's first mate, Smee.

I actually like the implication that suburbs look the same everywhere in the universe.

This definitely looks like a 1980s "kids on bikes" movie done as a streaming series and with a Star Wars coat of paint.

I’m very excited about this show! It could be fun! Definitely some ET, Goonies & Stand By Me vibes! The music was very whimsical.

It totally gave me Goonies in Space vibes! I'm excited for another genre in the Star Wars world.

Alex thanks for your general
positivity, the negative comments over at the Star Wars page is such a bummer. You’re a bright center…

Looking forward to this Captain E.O origin tale . .

My kids have never expressed much interest in Star Wars (that's just the stuff Dad watches). They watched the trailer, and are 100% on board and excited to watch this with me, so A+ Disney!

It's a reimagined Captain EO origin story and I'm sticking to it. Fuzzball is at 1:08 ( of the original trailer) . The droid has a peg leg like Major Domo. I'd line up all my other parallels but no one reads comments anyways.

You hit the nail on the head, it looks fun! We’ve seen poor kids all react in the Star Wars galaxy in E1 and they still found ways to have fun/act like kids. We also got a glimpse of how a lonely kid, Princess Leia in Kenobi, was like. But this is the first time we see “middle class” kids that have normals lives.

This is going to be a fun ride.

After the second viewing of the trailer, I immediately had the Rush song, "Subdivisions" running through my head. This verse especially seemed relevant...
"Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth"

Having a "Planet Suburbia" in Star Wars feels like the most "it's just future Earth" thing Star Wars has ever done. Sure, they have alien neighbors, but there had to have been a more creative way to give us the feeling of a middle-class neighborhood without making it literal. I don't hate it, necessarily, but it feels... off. Mixed feelings for sure.

not interested in this personally but i love how almost all the comment section here s positive or at least not blind aggression to anything new, really appreciate the chill spaces of the fandom that still exist online

I liked it very much. The suburbs make me happy, we've always saw the scoundrels, jedi, bureaucrats, senators, but never the day to day working class, is nice to see how the normal people live in this galaxy cause if we lived there probably we would be one of those haha

I think it makes sense that the planet feels so earth like. If you lived in the Star Wars universe yet your life was basically just like here on earth, you’d be dying to explore and see all the cool Star warsy stuff too!
