Family dinner and suddenly the narc makes a sad/angry face... yes, they're about to invent some drama (somebody looked at them funny, they didn't get to/they wanted x) and boom everyone is pandering to them to smooth over the dinner. He's got it all under his control and everyone does things to please the narc. Or else, they explode! And the dinner is ruined. Bad feelings all around. We don't play that anymore. We call that person a child, call them out for being a toddler tantrum. And then when they do we kick them out.

Mine would blow up most holidays. One year she threw all my gifts at me from the second floor landing. Good times. The last Christmas together she told me she wasn't doing anything for me and if I wanted to eat on Christmas I can make my own GD meal. Also, seemed to be sneaking around and tried to convince me I should go visit my father out of state by myself on Xmas day. My attorney appt was on January 4 after 29 years after dealing with it way too long.

Nightmare. Every single holiday. Pure insanity. My birthdays I get nothing, a card. Christmas constant complaining every year that I buy presents for people. He will accept gifts, but not give gift. Soooo selfish. Just sickening

Any holiday? Weird, tense, joyless, ……very strange even down to the food! Xmas dinner? Chip’s & meatballs. Father’s Day, hot dogs & popcorn (only get one hotdog). Etc, so very strange! Food control! Xmas? They give you a list of what they expect to get as presents!

Oh no. My ex narc bf wouldn't attend ANY family function with me because he KNEW he wouldn't be the center of attention and that wasn't acceptable.
I went by myself to every single family holiday dinner, birthday, or function.
