I walked away from my Catholic faith for this very reason. After much research, and even Jordan Peterson's videos...I have come back to my faith with a whole new fire. I have found an incredible reverent church. Rediscovered The Latin Mass and live my faith courageously...the way it's supposed to be lived. Not like these weak Priests and Bishops who have created a lukewarm culture. It's time to take our culture back. Restore holiness and tradition. Viva Cristo Rey!

Bishop Fulton Sheen would say “the west wants a Christ with no Cross, just as the authoritarians want a Cross with no Christ”

The criticism was that the Church stopped challenging people. One of the best critiques that has been made by an outsider in a long time

I was a cradle catholic, left the faith at 13 and was gone from the church for 10 years. Watching JBP and his psychological biblical series I was struck with a deep fascination of scriptures and spent 5 years or so coming back to the faith slowly in Protestant circles, the more I studied church history and scriptures the more I was drawn back to the one Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church. All God glory to God!!

As a Catholic I cannot agree more. I was raised with a bunch of fluff and shallow religion. It wasn’t until I started doing my own research and reading that I fell in love with the church. 99% of Catholic Churches are not running how Jesus intended for them to be run. I had one priest tell me that God is letting his church die right now so it can be rebuilt. It’s crazy how many people are religious but know nothing about their faith. There are too many people who just go to church as an insurance policy and don’t live how Christian’s should live. People are just doing the formalities but they don’t believe what they say.

As a devout Catholic I completely agree with Jordan Petersons view on what happened in the Church during the 60s with "the spirit of Vatican II"

I was a cradle catholic, left the faith in my teen years. I grew up in the novus ordo. When I came back to my faith in 2018 I found the TLM and it has transformed my life completely! So many young people are flocking back to the traditions of the Catholic Church pre Vatican 2

When I read the Catechism I see a Church that cares deeply about The Truth as revealed by God. It is wonderful and beautiful. Not easy. Challenging to live out.

Most Catholics don’t understand that this is what the Catholic Church has always been from Ignatius, Iranaeus and Justin Martyr. They wanted to preserve the teachings of Christ and His Disciples and from what I can see, the official teachings of the Church today are an absolute miracle that they are so well preserved.

So find yourself a good Catholic Priest who preaches the Truth, get on your knees and worship your Creator deeply and your life will be changed in a miraculous way.

My atheist son converted to the Catholic Church and is soon to start his 2nd year of missionary work with them. He is a product of Jordan :)

Honestly, I can only thank my mom and dad for this, but they raised me to be more than what the Church said was ok. They raised me the way they were raised in the Church. Not with the fluff that the Catholic Church has now, but when it was less inclusive. It's tough, but it's what has stuck with me, and it's a huge reason why I'm a devout, practicing Catholic.

As a Catholic, I 100% agree that they dumbed it down, watered it down, and are slowly destroying what it's supposed to be. Doesnt mean it's any reason to leave though. As Peter said to Jesus, where would we go? He is the way and he founded Catholicism. It needs to be restored to tradition

I have found that the more the Catholic Church waters down its teachings, the more people walk away. Specially young people.
At this moment younger Catholics are attracted towards the more traditionalist liturgies. After all the young seem to be attracted by things that seem new to them and after decades of the modernisation of the Church they seek something different and very often the old traditions fell new to those who have grown in the modern Church.

Excellent opening, Patrick.
It feels like JP is on the road to Emmaus, while watchers listen along the way.

I remember being 7 years old revolted by the folk mass but intrigued by the Latin mass. Always thought they might revive the church by restoring the beautiful mystery

JP is very accurate on this. The Church being so "laxed" has allowed itself to be infiltrated..

I had the same experience with religion growing up.
My Catholic upbringing was far from deep.
So I started doing my own research and that made me more religious.
Whenever you make something appeal to the MASSES you dilute it.

Absolutely, as a practicing Catholic I can say this is true, but even so all Saints had to decide to do the deep work towards Christ and many, just to name a few St Francis of Assisi, St Theresa of Avila, St Charles Borromeo, reformed The Church by their own efforts of this exact criticism. As Catholics we are The Church of Christ not the church of ourselves and it was Christ Himself who posed this challenge to us.
May God bless and call Jordan.

I would love to see a conversation between Peterson and Father Ripperger.

He’s right! Vatican ll was supposed to make the Church relevant to the ridiculous 60’s. Rituals were ditched, standards were lowered, and entertainment became king. Priests think their homilies have to be comedic stand-up sessions, church choirs think they have to put on some sappy concert just short of fire works, catechists no longer teach the REAL sacrificial Faith of the saints, instead teaching that sin and hell are antiquated concepts that belonged to a “rigid” church. Ever since Vatican ll, the Novus Ordo (New Order) has seen dwindling numbers in the pews and in religious vocations. It is no wonder that the Traditional Latin Mass (the pre-Vatican ll Mass) has seen tremendous growth. So many people discovered the TLM during the pandemic when the Novus Ordo Church played politics and refused the Sacraments to its flock. The TLM is both young and old, full of young families celebrating Tradition. It’s a Mass where Christ is front and center, where sin and hell are acknowledged as real and detrimental. Dr. Peterson is right!
