The heads a friction fit, designed to get tighter with use over time. A wedge will fix it for sure, but you can flip it upside down and smack the bottom of the handle a couple of times with a hammer and it should fix that head right up. This was how they were usually fixed back in the day.

I think if you try and put a wedge in those handles you’re going to push the head down the shaft. It looks like they’re similar to a tomahawk handle and it’s tapered thickest at the top. 👍
