This is my cousin!!! I grew up with her so she's pretty much my sister. It's so heartwarming to watch her succeed.

I think it’s the combination of job security and passion. The demand for my skills is high, so I’m not worried about finding work, and I really enjoy the day-to-day tasks

Doesn’t require a degree but ballz of steel are a requirement.

I commend this woman for her hard work and her decision. Can’t dismiss trades. 73K is a solid income. Meanwhile some of us teachers are making 35k-50k a year… with masters degrees. SMH.

Keep it up sis. You can tell she cares about providing for her family and doing a good job at work. Invest in your retirement and you’ll be set.

Vestas must have a lower pay scale, at Invenergy a Tech 2 Level 1 makes $79k, a Tech 3 Level 2 makes $98k. That's without overtime and before taxes.
And for those saying it's unskilled labor, it takes about 5 years of on-the-job training to learn everything. These are complex machines.
Keep up the good work, Jessica. I'm sure you'll make lead tech some day.

She is way underpaid. She should be paid at least 6 figures with how much of her life she’s putting at risk on the job everyday.

To all those talking about pay, I lived in that county and it is a very rural area with a very low cost of living. Also Texas has a very low minimum wage. Great story and the wind turbines are very important to Texas energy.

Big up to you sister. It’s not about having a degree or being a male, but mastering that skill with excellence. May God keep you safe and provide for you/family.

I make $150k as a non union heavy equipment mechanic with 6 years experience. No college, no trade school. This job is physically hard and you have to be smart. The real money comes when you can troubleshoot anything.

The way my fear of heights is situated...but super happy for her.

She's making much more than the vast majority of wildland firefighters, my previous work. Way less dangerous than fire. Gets to go home every night. Not sleeping on the ground where you don't bother setting up a tent. Tragedies, trauma. But you get paid in sunsets. I can't believe I did it for so long. I had to fight HR to pay me correctly for my measly increases. Good luck out there.

I live in NYC making around the same as her but my take home after taxes is nowhere near as high. She is winning!

I’m a trucker, and while I appreciate being able to use diesel fuel to power my career, I absolutely LOVE seeing wind turbines in the countryside when I travel the highways and byways of the good ol’ US of A!

She's a baddie! ❤
I've always said, stay at home moms- with or without a degree- are a huge untapped labor resource.

To the people saying she is underpaid- she’s not. The Minimum wage in Texas is $7.25 an hour. The median income in her rural county is around $20k for a woman- she is making 3.5 times what the average is in her area, she has great insurance and has no college degree. In other states or big cities this wouldn’t work of course but there is does

Great thing about smaller cities!! 75k feeds four children. That’s great
