As an aspiring pilot I grew up idolizing airbus and boeing. Now I understand that one is doing everything it can to take pilots out of the cockpit and the other would use duct tape to attach the wings if it meant saving a dollar for each plane

As I said before, the move is all about anti unionism.

To regain the trust of the aviation world, Boeing needs to refocus on its engineering roots. Seems like the acquisition of Mcdonnell Douglas didn't serve Boeing well.

It's all PR. The actual dollar amounts aren't even a slap on the wrist. Maybe adding a zero or two to each amount would get the point across.

With the 787, Boeing lost its roots: it has lost its design inspiration, engineering expertise, manufacturing excellence, and integrity. It has lost its way. At this rate, Boeing will become a second rate plane manufacturer that outsourced its core technological expertise. Pretty soon, it will needs political allies in congress and Pentagon funding to keep operating.

Boeing can always make a living doing demonstrations for other companies on what not to do. I can easily see a time in the near future with Airbus as No1. I think they learnt a lot from the A380 and gained a lot of experience from it. They have taken those lessons and run with them. Appear to be making better decisions and better managed.

penalties of a few million are pocket change for Boeing. FAA needs to levy fines in billions, not millions.

Looks to me the typical Harvard MBA approach: cut costs to save short-term profits and please the shareholders, damn the consequences. Too many sectors and manufacturers can attest to that this business-policy and these dime-a-dozen MBA managers do not work out long term. Guess Boeing has to learn on its own expense.

guess it is cheaper to pay those fines (pocket money for Boeing) than to fix the production process of the Dreamliner

My best flight in the last 10 years was on an Air Canada Dreamliner from Madrid to Toronto October, 2018. Beside that was an almost empty Air France 747 in 2007.

But shifting all production to South Carolina is definitely problematic. When the accountants overrule the engineers. . .

Considering that a lot of the employees currently at Everett were with Boeing from the start at least their ancestors were are descendants of the very first Boeing Employees who started Boeing on its road to success almost a hundred years ago. I Beyond disgusting that they would so easily dismiss these people who have been the lifeblood of the company. Boeing should have considered them family and what they have done is evil in my opinion. Which quite a statement coming from me, an atheist.

HI, Maximus I just can't believe this the Dream Liner has more problems than any other aircraft and yet Still Boeing they have the nerve to tell Airbus about a fuel thank on the A321 and aircraft that has never been grounded and none of its employees has ever said anything bad on that aircraft, so I say again Boeing has no shame man and wants to tell people about someones else safety. I will say again Boeing must mind your own business put your house in order before you can tell anybody about theirs

Look at Airbus. They have maintained their integrity. A350 is amazing, A320 is awesome. Boeing better fix its ways or the Chinese will steal the show.

That airplane started out as a farce the first day it was unveiled in the big show. Nothing on the inside and lots of wood outside where metal and composites should have been.

REMEMBER I MENTIONED British Leyland Motor Vehicles! They developed a reputation for being Sheds On Wheels. By the time they went under THAT STIGMA was Ingrained in the British Psyche! 40 Years later your video has reminded me of that stigma.

I disagree that Airbus 'learned' from the production methode of the Dreamliner.
Carbon Fiber was the way to go, everybody knows it is a great Material for Airplanes.
Boeing and Airbus chose diffrent ways to build the fuselage with this new Material.
When the desing for the A350 was closed, knowbody knew about those Problems with the Dreamliner.
I am sure Boeing also considered building the 787 as well 'traditionel' but they decided to try something else..

Boeing and Airbus have in general a fundamental diffrent philosophy in the art of mass producing high end Aircrafts

I’ve been a big fan of Boeing for many years going back to when the 757/767 programs were new. They are not the same company they once were. They need to put their head down and focus on engineering / quality control and less on driving up stock price by delivering as many jets as humanly possible. How in the world did the Boeing board let MD execs stay on after the merger in 1997?

Boeing reminds me so much of the Tobacco and Asbestos industries before it. Spending too much time and effort on outward denial and trying to avoid the issues or consequences for as long as they are able.
You would have thought that Boeing would have learnt from the MAX debacle, but it is looking as if Einstein will prevail!
