The people responsible for the crashes - including Boeing’s CEO should be in prison. The fines are a joke, there is no individual responsibility borne by anybody. I can’t understand how all the responsible people can sleep at night. I guess when you have millions on your bank account you just don’t care.

You can get away with repeatedly killing hundreds of passengers and 2 crews and suffer no personal consequences... but if you cause billionaires to lose millions they can go after you.

When you look at the way Volkswagen was hammered in the US for its emissions cheating (without condoning their conduct at all) and compare this to the slaps on the wrist for Boeing and GM (for its faulty ignition locks), then it's difficult to avoid the conclusion that the US is looking out for its own.
The way Muilenburg was able to simply walk away from this scandal with a huge cheque is nothing short of obscene.

My guess is that when Muilenberg was told he was being fined $1 Million, he asked: "Do you take cash?"

Now corporations blame others for their own corporate greed.

The most astonishing thing is that Airline Procurement still carries on buying these deathtraps, knowing full well what sort of Executives are running these companies! I also lay much blame on the FAA for allowing the "shortcut" pseudo-certification by Boeing itself to have taken place. As the saying goes, "Follow the Money!"

The government needs to apply the RICO statutes to get corporate bosses as it did to get mob bosses.

Pilots and other personnel (maintenance, safety...) working in the commercial aviation industry around the world found to be responsible for aircraft accidents and incidents has been put in jail, demoted, stripped out of their licenses, shamed for life etc. Boeing company and ex CEO gets to pay a fine...life and works continues. Is this real and fair justice?

The “shareholders” who get the money from the fines should be the families of those who died. The information that continues to come out provides further proof of wrongdoing, and the additional fines should act as supplemental compensation as the facts are revealed

200 million for Muilenberg and 10 billion for Boeing as a penalty. That would be fair. Anything less than the penalty is an invitation to further crimes.

Boeing must be rolling over in his grave.

Excellent review and summary Maximus. Makes me angry all over again being reminded how outrageous Boeing’s actions were. And still nobody in jail. Unbelievable

I'd be happy to if a company I worked for paid me 60m to go away and then I got fined 1 m for my wrong doings. It is a disgrace that nobody has been made to pay for this dreadful incident and just goes to show. Ordinary people’s lives do not matter to the rich and wealthy provided they keep on making money. It also proves that there is one justice system for the ordinary people and an entirely different one for the rich and famous. And there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it.

I sold everything I had that said Boeing ( even the coffee cup) the day of the first max crash. My gut told me this was not going to be good. I trust my gut.

I think if these crashes happened in the US people would have gone to prison.

Maximus. You’re my aviation fix for news. Been subbed a couple years. At least. I, m guilty of not commenting a lot ( but always thumbs up. Before I watch ). So sir. Thanks for sharing ! Yep. Boeing literally. Got away with murder. No sugarcoating that. Unbelievable nobody from Boeing was prosecuted. Shame on them
