Ken Miles (played by Christian Bale in the film) was the reason Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) found success on the track with his Shelby Cobras, and why Ford beat Ferrari with their GT40’s in the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans. From driving tanks on the beaches of Normandy, to running his own mechanic shop, Miles was known to do things his way. He built his own winning MG's and raced Porsche 550 Spyder's to podium after podium. His skills led him to becoming Carroll Shelby's Chief Test Driver and he was just getting started. So how did Miles go from being a high school drop out to almost being the first driver to ever win the Triple Crown? Join James as he gets you Up to Speed on Mr. Sidebite himself. This is everything you need to know on Ken Miles!

I love how emotional James gets. You can tell the man is passionate about his work, vehicles, and the history of it all.

After Ken Miles’s death, changes were made to the aerodynamics of the J car to reduce rear-end lift, and a steel roll cage was added. These changes saved Mario Andretti’s life in the 1967 Le Mans. Ken Miles’s legacy lives on through Mario’s legendary career.

When I was a kid, I asked my dad who the best race car driver was during a LeMans race in the late 90’s. He told me there isn’t one. And i asked, why? He said; its Ken Miles, but he’s not racing here, he’s racing in heaven.

No one would have done justice to this role like Bale. He makes you bond with the character. I cried when he died..

Women would cry while watching Korean romantic movies. Men would cry while listening the catastrophic story of Ken Miles.

Have two things:-
1. Ken Miles is legendary.
2. Fact that James Pumphrey gets emotional every-time, while telling facts about car, Tells how much dude really loves cars and everyone around it.

The emotion that Pumphry shows from 19:50 on is some of the most passionate and heartbreaking stuff I've seen on youtube. He's different from most presenters and demonstrates deeper care for the subjects he's covering on a personal level. Thanks Donut for this type of motorsport coverage as well as your funner stuff, you are truly one of the best car and automotive channels on youtube today

“There’s a point at 7, 000 RPMs where everything fades.
The machine becomes weightless. It disappears.
All that’s left, a body moving through space, and time.
At 7, 000 RPM, that’s where you meet it. That’s where it waits for you.” ❣️
