How to Make FRESH BASIL PESTO Like an Italian

preview_player
Показать описание
Fresh basil pesto is so easy to make and one of the most versatile condiments in Italian cooking. It originated in the region of Liguria and when made fresh the salty flavour just dances on your tastebuds.
When making your own pesto at home, the trick is to use fresh basil leaves – either from your own garden, the farmers market or your neighbours!
Be warned, once you start blending the basil, your kitchen will be filled with the most delicious aroma and as soon as you combine the pine nuts and parmigiano you will not be able to resist a few scoops almost right away!

I made this, and it was perfect! It tasted so fresh. No more store-bought for me.
Thank you so much.

Pesto freezes well. We store it in ice cube trays, and use it all year, until next summer.

A Genoese never jokes about two things:
About pesto and about money.

Fresh Basil Pesto is perfect for any dish but what is your favorite way to eat pesto? I used the blender because my mortar and pestle is too small..in this video I show how to blend pesto with a blender without ruining the basil

This video made me get into farming my own little garden. Started with Genovese basil which I didn't know is so easy to grow here in the tropics, they grow like weeds and now I have an endless supply and pesticide free basil, they grow so fast I have more than I know what to do with the rest. With Italian parsley, I have little luck, many did not germinate and the handful that did is still at 4 inches tall like they are stunted for a month now. Tomato Roma, I have better luck, they are now flowering, hope they taste good.

This is one reason to why I love Italian food so much, . Simple and if done with good ingredients it really is the best.

I’ve always had this weird fantasy of opening a food truck called Pesto. So many sandwiches, pizza, pasta, meals can be topped with pesto. So many variations of pesto can be made. It’s such a beautiful compliment to most meals.

Before I pick the basil, I water the plants a few hours before so the leaves aren't wilted.

Thanks for teaching me how to cook like an Italian! You've inspired me in the kitchen so much over the last 12 months. We have our own basil growing in plantar boxes and get the good pasta now. We often make your basil sugo every week.

I'm gonna go get the ingredients and make it now! I just knew it was easy peezy! The store bought usually always has that crappy canola oil or some other oil mix, and other off ingredients. I'm excited to make fresh Pesto! ❤

I love this pesto with spinach and penne or fusilli pasta. It’s great with dry tomatoes, nice substitute of meat beacause of it’s texture. I like to use walnuts instead of pine nuts.

I love pesto from fresh basil! I make my pesto with either almonds or cashews because I'm allergic to pine nuts so needed to make that adjustment.
