Doug, the kind of guy who calls a car just under 65k reasonable and affordable.

This thing is being reasonably successful here in Brazil as we don’t have many electric car options. The other car brand which is coming strong is BYD.

The integrated trash can is a really interesting addition. Often we have to find a temporary spot to place little wrappers or other trashy items.

1) At least for the XC40 there's an option to get that carpeting in a bright orange, just in case you find the a bit pedestrian
2) Having seen quite a few of these on the road here in Norway, I'm convinced that the basic roof line design of the C40 is heavily inspired by the 1950's Volvo 544 "PV"

Quirks that he missed: there is a bag hook on the glovebox latch- the floor of the trunk hinges and offers bag hooks- the trunk area cover can be flipped over and stowed under the trunk floor- the camera systems are ridiculously nice- the turn signal sound - the seat is your ignition key - the entire infotainment is run by google, and it updates over the air- one pedal driving - firm steering wheel feel - the accelerometer in the dash display - the rear light display when you lock/unlock. Its like he phoned it in? I own this car, and it is right quick.

That little clip on the windshield is very practical. I have one in my Saab and use it when I'm required to place a parking receipt on the dashboard, so it doesn't fly away or fall in between the windshield and the base of the dashboard. Apparently, it's a Swedish quirk as most Saabs and Volvos have one.

Doug is the type of guy to call an SUV "turtle"

I love the interior. The blue carpet is great. Nice to see colors used in interiors (and exteriors) again. LED elevation map mood lights also look nice. The built-in waste bin is ingenious.

I enjoy the fact that color matched interiors are making a comeback!

The new wool-based upholstry option looks pretty sweet as well.

The new improved (2024) C40 has a revised powertrain and thus the range is increased beyond it's competitors. WLTP for the Audi Q4 40 e-tron is 518km/321miles where as the C40 AWD has 547km/340miles, The old C40 has 400-450km range WLTP.

LOVE the blue inside and out. Wheels are cool too. I actually think this is a better execution of the "coupe" crossover trend as well. Now, squash it into a true "C" model as a hatchback and we'll really be talking

Don't all new mid-sized SUVs look the same? Or is it just me?

I bought one of these a few months ago. I love it. I definitely would have preferred an xc40, but i got a 540/mo lease for a fully kitted c40. The cheapest xc40 lease i got offered was 675 or so. The back window is pretty brutal, but otherwise I much prefer this to my x3m i traded in for it.

I'd also add that the regular shape XC40 recharge has a pano roof that opens instead of a fixed, a little dash of extra usability. As a fan of coupe/sportback crossovers though, this one is a pretty sexy turtle.

1:16 Yes indeed. The C40 is just a smaller XC40 with a teardrop design, and you should mention that these cars share almost the exact same features and capabilities. The C40’s exterior design is very plain and simple, I like how it secedes itself from the competition’s rough and angry-looking design styles, although they look fine. The funny thing is that the XC40 Recharge also doesn’t have the startup button visible, but instead it’s the same technique as the C40. The color options are great on this car.

This car is selling well here in Brazil, along with its XC40 brother. Which is remarkable, since electric cars are still not very accessible here and the charging infrastructure is not the best. After a short period of Volvo dominance, now Chinese electrics from brands such as BYD and GWM are growing in sales. Tesla is still out of the market, we only have a few on the roads because its fans decide to spend money on independent imports. I'd say this car's only flaw is that it doesn't have a sunroof shade.

I always found the Volvo windshield clip to be useful to put tickets, etc. on my parent's Volvos. They've been doing it for a while (my parents have a 2005, and had a 1998 until recently) and I always wondered why more manufacturers didn't add that handy little feature. It was nice to be able to add parking permits without having to have it permanently stuck to the windshield blocking the view, and also being able to switch the permit to another car when necessary.

Rented one of these the other week and was surprisingly fun to drive - WAY faster than expected, especially at highway speeds. They have pretty good lease deals right now too, believe $400/mo for 24mo is the current deal in socal. Would align perfectly for swapping it our for the new EX30 when it's released.

My 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx also had that clear plastic ticket holder thing on the windshield. The only time I thought about it was when I was cleaning the inside of the windshield and I'd ram my fingers into it.
