So you would take a once a week injection for the basal, however the problem is with the insulin you need to take for the spikes of glucose each time you eat a meal which is known as the bolus dose. Both type 1 and 2 patients are having to take bolus dose every meal, so this weekly injection doesn't really help in reducing that multiple injection pain 😢
