As a Canadian, I am thrilled! I see my Endocrinologist in March and I am gonna ask her about it ! That would do awesome

Of course, it should be approved, but they won't make as much $ so they will drag it out as long as they can sadly

I wouldn't use it. I dose according to my upcoming 24 hour activity, which changes from day to day, and it's hard enough getting that balance right each day, so having a much bigger load onboard and hoping it will disperse in an orderly fashion seems too risky.

I was part of a 1 year study using eco dec
after getting use to it, I would recommend many T1Ds to use it (I guess it depends on cost)
the weekly dose was around 70 or so
the injection did not feel any different than injecting 5 units
I found than taking a bit more units, the Basel dose kept my BG some what level, I required less Bolus dose
but this could be dangerous if you do not eat in time

Absolutely yes this needs to be approved.

Yes, let each person make their own choice with their doctor or endocrinologist. Just like pumps, there should be many options from which to choose. Diabetes isn’t a one-size fits all disease.

If they were the ones taking shots a few times a day as a type 1 you see how fast they’d change their mind! Convenience means a lot for a diabetic especially those on two different types of insulin.

I'm a type 1 for 26 years. I don't think a one week shot would be vastly superior to my daily long term shots, and I definitely like to stagger and vary my overnight doses based on my very active lifestyle, which would complicate things when trying to dose once a week. More interested in smart insulin and dosing rapid acting insulin once a day. :}

If you read the info of how this insulin works, almost every T1D would want to at least try it. I would love to take a long, if not permanent, break from the pump. FDA NEEDS TO APPROVE IT. I plan to find out how much it costs in Canada. May need to take a trip soon.

I'm a family practice Dr in the United States. I do find the FDA is a little more stringent on medications especially when they first come out. However having diabetes myself and experiencing low blood sugars, low blood sugars are terrifying. Low blood sugar will kill you in 20 minutes high blood sugar 20 If they're concerned about the risk of low blood sugars I am too.

It needs to be approved and let us make the decision to which fits our lifestyle

Jardiance is approved for t1d in Europe, but the FDA wouldn't approve for t1d here in the States bc of possible ketosis. My endo prescribes it for me off-label, and for the past five years, no problems. Just the benefits.

They approved this and I can't even order the Freestyle Libre 3? USA always get stuff first after Europe. This is wierd.

Should it be approved? Yes. Would I use it personally? Most probably not.

With tresiba which is very long acting it’s already too complicated to accommodate for changes in diet, alcohol consumption, amount and type of exercise, weight gain or loss etc. You only notice the changes of dosages within 3 days or even 4 sometimes. So if you over or underdose you already gotta wait for days until the adjustment takes effect. Imagine misdosing with a weekly insulin or for example not taking it or taking double the dose because you forgot you already took the shot. Things like this happen even if it’s rare and that could be absolutely fatal.

It’s higher risk for lows but what’s the percentage increase? They left that out lol

I agree with the FDA but people should have right to prefer what they want. My son is T1Ds for 6 years and he uses pump with CGM. It is much convenient and useful for us.❤
