I've posted this before: Jason saved the band twice: once 1986 by stepping in for Cliff, and again in 2001 by leaving and forcing the rest of them to look inward.

Jason was there when Metallica needed him...yet Metallica wasn't there when Jason needed them.

I really loved what Kirk says about Jason. He sounds very genuine.

In other words... Jason was too good for them and they didn't even knew it. Now they do.

Rob’s sitting there, taking notes on what to watch out for…

Jason was a criminally underrated and underutilized bassist. I can only imagine how much more Metallica's music would have been if his creative contributions wouldn't have been stifled. I miss Jason, not diminishing Cliff or Rob but Jason was my favorite.
His backing vocals are incredible as well. His energy was infectious \m/

Wow. Pretty eye opening. James and Lars have matured enough to admit they were wrong in how they treated Jason, at the beginning and when he left the band. You can really hear how much Kirk appreciates and loves Jason.

Not only great bass player but best backup singer they had too.

To see them giving Jason his props all these years later made me tear up. Cliff was always the musical virtuoso, and he’s sorely missed, but for me Jason was THE Metallica bass player. His energy, live performances, and backing/lead vocals were above and beyond what Cliff brought, and what Robert brings to this band. Miss seeing Jason up on stage with these guys…

Jason was, and always will be, my favorite Metallica member. He’s finally getting the love and respect that he deserves from his fellow band mates. Better late than never.

Shit happens but I applaud Lars and James for stepping up and saying that what happened was their fault. That shows great strength and character.

Jason is a true force of nature, pure energy, pure metal!

James and Larz's treatment of Jason are proof that being good, kind and dedicated means nothing to those whom rule over you.

I think that's why the Some Kind of Monster documentary is so important for not only Metallica, but bands and relationships in general. They were so guarded, and closed off emotionally, and put up such thick walls between eachother that they inevitably disintegrated because they simply couldn't let anyone in on their turmoil. They covered it up TOO well in interviews and public appearances. It was all a show. The band was falling apart for years and no one knew. SKOM kind of broke those barriers down and showed people it's ok to have these necessary conversations.

Imagine James Hetfield fighting for you to be in his band, thats a dream

"We love you, we hate you, we love you, we hate you!" Kirk hit the nail on the head there!

These guys don’t realize that Newsted was the best thing to ever happen to them and Metallica as a whole.

Nice to see after all these years they still love and respect and admire Cliff even more then before. And it is good to see Lars and James admit it is because of them that Jason left, and Kirk saying that they needed Jason. Hope Jason sees this.
