The Black Album won a Grammy, went platinum sixteen times, and is one of the best-selling records of all-time. But it wasn’t a hit with everyone. Here are Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujilla, James Hetfield & Lars Ulrich from Metallica reading real Amazon 1-star reviews of the Black Album.

Love how James genuinely laughs at everything. Pretty sure he threw the chair also lol

Even James’s reading voice is epic. He has a future in audiobooks.

Love it when bands don't always take themselves so seriously. It's good for ones mental health.

I'm genuinely confused on how someone could hate this album.

I’d like to see them read 5 star Amazon reviews of St Anger next ( yes, they exist )

I bought the Black Album when it came out. For me IT ROCKS! I had been playing electric guitar for about 8 years at that point and decided to learn all of the songs. It was and still is... A THRILL to play them!!! If you want to take your love of this band to the next level, learn an instrument and jam along with their music. SO MUCH FUN! Thank you, Metallica for many years of fantastic rockin' songs!

As someone who actually didn’t particularly like the Black Album…you literally would have to be an idiot to think it was bad. Being from SF and remembering when Metallica was a local band, I recognized that record was the next phase for them to get huge and become one of the biggest bands in the world. It’s not a challenging record, it’s not particularly a creative record, but it was perfect for the general masses.

Can we appreciate how Kirk really dived into the "METALLICA SUCKS" repeats?

I’m a doctor…and my diagnosis is that Metallica definitely does not suck.

Nothing is more Metal than James hopping up at the end and getting right in the camera's face to flip off the naysayers. Yes.

Blows my mind to think Rob has been in the band longer than Jason was…

So glad to see them together and as strong as ever after 40 years. James especially looks so healthy.

I know someone who was a hardcore Metallica fan prior to the black album. He bought it with high anticipation, listened to it and and locked himself in to a car, crying for a full day. As for me.. one of the great metal albums.

The Black Album is what got me and whole lot of others into Metal who were otherwise frightened by this new aggressive sound that made you think is a one way ticket to hell - they tailored the sound just a bit to entice Madonna and MJ listeners to be open minded about metal and succeeded! Metal is the single greatest gift of music in the last 40-50 years
