There are so many Christians and their respective churches that are 180 degrees opposed to this interpretation of Romans 13 that Doug has just discussed. This is ultimately why we left our church because we view Romans 13 the way he interprets it.

Solid understanding. We always are told to see Romans 13 as if we have a King when in America, we are King and power is decentralized. The authority we recognize is the one fitting the nation we find ourselves in.

This principle applies here in Canada too! We’re subject to the Charter of Rights NOT Trudeau and certainly not Fauci! It’s extremely sad that so few people understand this.

Romans 13:1-8 and 1 Peter 2:13-15 both state that the purpose of government is the judicial branch. It cannot tell you what to do, but only what not to do (as in don't commit evil), and punish accordingly.

Medical recommendations are beyond the grounds of governmental authority.

He's right. The instructions to a disarmed people in a subject nation are quite different than what would be said to us in the US, whose very founding documents our personal responsibility to change an unjust government. THAT is OUR social contract.

The bible gives basically 3 examples of authority that we shall serve under as example of us serving under God in a sense is the following:
our parents, our spiritual leaders and the government. Now but in no way any of these examples authority exceeds Gods. So the day comes
when we are suppose to choose between these examples and God, we suppose to choose God always.
