They really said "fuck it, go to war in fancy suits instead"

Essentially went like “Look you’ll die either way, just wear these uniforms”

I also think it's interesting how it basically went from
-helmets & chest armor
-to just helmets
-to no armor
-back to just helmets
-and then back to helmets & chest armor

"Why wasn't armor made heavy enough to stop any blow?" I think it has something to do with humans not having the super strength required to be capable of wearing such armor.

Armor literally went from nothing to basic cloth, to parts of metal, to full metal, then back to nothing, and now we’re past advanced cloth and are at parts of metal again. Next will be full metal again when they finally figure out how to miniaturize tanks into iron man suits.

To those saying "wow so they decided people are less valuable than armour". Do not forget that Knight's armour of the quality featured were not a luxury of the common footsoldier. They were a personally-funded privilege of the noble and wealthy.

I swear so many questions about medieval warfare just get answered with "because gun"

And then armor reemerged. First just many layers of special cloth then adding a vitamin plate.

"Why wasn't armor made invincible?"

Duh. The developers kept patching it so that the meta wouldn't become stale

The arms race has always been going and it will never stop. The problem with it is the weapon to armor and back race. With enough fire power it doesn't really matter what you got. It's part of why I love Warhammer 40K. Most of the main characters are walking tanks because they have to be to have a chance at winning. There is the guard but they barely do anything besides try their best to hold ground. Have a good rest of your day and thanks for sharing this stuff.

And now we are looping back around. I can't wait for space marine armored suits.

And then, many years a later, a beautiful thing happened and _kevlar was invented_

Would like to expand on this. You see, back in those days, the object wasn't to kill the knight, but capture them and ransom them back to their families. Yes, it protected the wearer, but it was also a sign to the enemy that read " don't kill me, my family will pay money for my return."
Armor didn't need to be impervious to all forms of damage because the goal wasn't to kill someone wearing it.

Until armor made a resurgence with kevlar and ballistic plates lol. Then with energy weapons nullifying that armor until we figure out new armor.

Wonder if we’ll ever see the day of 40k armour because that stuff is on a whole different level
