“I’m insane with anger” made me laugh so hard, great way to break tension in a very tense scene. Brilliant!

I love the way the crickets atop chirping in the beginning of the scene; most casual moviegoers would overlook something like that. The crickets can detect danger, hence the chirping has stopped; it's such a subtle, but effective way in creating tension.

What always scared me watching this when I was little was how human the aliens seemed. Their responses, their strategies, their communication. We could understand them, but they could understand us. The family figured out their plan in the basement, and the last one knew to use a child as a hostage. I always found the similarity in thought processes creepy
