Great simple explanation! I have a protrusion, but not herniation, in L3/4-L5/S1. My doctor won’t prescribe physiotherapy! What are so exercises or stretches I can implement when I feel back pain? Most times I do not feel any pain, it’s only after specific movements that I feel very localized pain.

Hi Dr Su - can you give more information on Schmorl’s Nodes along the superior endplate of S1 and in the lumbar area please? Conservative treatment options?

Dr. Su, you mentioned that herniated disc can be healed on its own… most of the time…how about a bulged disc? Does a bulged disc get back to its normal form? Let’s say with conservative treatment… is it possible to have a bulged disc and after a 6 month or a year of conservative treatment, the disc goes back to normal?

Hi Dr., What is the difference between a diffuse annular bulge and a disc herniation? Can both cause Sciatica? Thanks so much for your time!

Dr. Brian just so you know, I smoked a little bit of weed the other day and it helped to reduce the inflammation on my sciatic nerve immensely. Day 3 the pain is still much lower than it was. Maybe CBD would do the same trick.
I think this is a safer option than NSAIDs isn't it?? ( i have spinal stenosis ( partly from genetics) and a herniated disc.)

I have evelated D Dimer levels. Could it be because of the blood clotting around the disc annulus tear or the fibrin? Is it normal to have evelated d dimer while the disc is repairing?
