People dont realize there have been a million RPGs before souls games.

People don't label a game as a *souls-like* because it's hard. I'd say the feel of the combat and inspiration holds more validity in terms of calling something a souls-like. Yes the level up system is different than most of FromSoftware games and more akin to other games. You can say it's a souls-like or not, but to argue against the blatant similar mechanics and clear inspiration is just pointless. It's not a negative thing to acknowledge that.
