I’m a Vietnamese whose have watched the old tv show for “Journey to the West” (Tây Du Ký in Vietnamese) and I have never seen it as China’s propaganda at all. My grandmother and my grandfather loved it because they followed Buddhism and practiced it their whole life and i have always seen it as a beautiful way of translating the message of Buddhism into mainstream media.
