"No, I lose them all at the beginning of every game"

Sindri: "hey, what happened to all that armor we made for you in the last game?"

Kratos: "I USED IT."

Man Mymir sounded WAY more disappointed than Kratos.

I think its safe to say that when Kratos says he “tried” to recall some of that power, that is us the player hitting those buttons to try to use the powers we had from other games

Love when some random dialogue turns into significant info about the game and the lore of its universe

Kratos: "I used to have the head of the god Helios as a lantern"

Mimir: "Oh, what happened to it?"

Kratos: "I trade it for yours."

Mimir: "Ah..."

I can't imagine Kratos using poseidon's rage and hear christopher judge yelling "None Shall defy me"

Imagine how scary that would be for the other mythical norse beings to hear. This foreign god runs around slaughtering everyone who gets in his way, other gods included, yet he apparently lost nearly all his power a long time ago.

And yet Kratos still has his incredible strength, Spartan Rage, healing, and long life. And he was able to survive being run through by the Blade of Olympus, not once, but twice. Seem's strange that he doesn't have his powers anymore. Or, maybe he lied in order to keep that part of himself a secret. One last thing to keep those closest to him safe.

It’s my head canon that Greece wasn’t completely wiped out, and that Hope brought a new age for the people. One where they don’t need the Gods to help them function.

I always kinda wondered why kratos couldn't at least use Hades powers or abilities, because although Hades is "dead" Kratos absorbed his soul into his own body in GOW 3. i feel like that should pop up in him at some point.

I like the Discworld interpretation, Gods and their powers require belief from followers. With Kratos annihilating them and then walking away, the populace basically stopped seeing them around causing stuff due to petty squabbles so stopped believing over time.

I don't think he lost all of his powers. He still has the ability to self heal and still has the strength of a God. Look how strong he was to hold the giant hammer of Thamur in GOW4.

To explain: he didn’t lose any inherent abilities, he lost the specific abilities he gained from the magic of the other gods, like the army of Sparta move, or the army of hades. He still kept all of the physical strength and souls he absorbed though. Many may not know but the health orbs and magic orbs are stated in lore to be him actually absorbing the power of those he kills, the blades of chaos even have this ability. It’s stated in ascension and GoW1 and 2 that they have this ability

Mimir knows that if he gets his powers back, odin would’ve been wiped out in game one

Mimir just trying to get Kratos to speedrun ragnarok

“When your homeland died, your powers probably went with it.”

Sure didn’t stop the Blades of Chaos from lighting up.

"Well the developers needed a way to reset my strengths in order to level it up in this game"

Key word “probably” it would be so awesome if in the next game kratos relearns some of his old abilities
