The problem with the black community is racism & internalized racism. As a Black man it’s impossible to get people to admit they hate black mens hair. You can only have crisp dreads, or a small few high maintenance hairstyles. Even other hairstyles when well maintained make you be perceived much less seriously or undesirable. Dreads are seen as “hard” and it helps you be perceived as masculine. Afros are perceived as nerdy somehow. And it’s hilarious how people are so against admitting it.
