"So have a nice trip" I also wish this man a nice trip on his way back to Soviet era poverty and total lack of government transparency

Many people here in the comments seem to not understand what McDonald's is for former eastern block countries. I'm from Poland and each time my parents tell me about the changes of 1989 they always mention thousands of people queueing to the first open McDonald's in the city. McD is a symbol of freedom and although to some of you it might sound ridiculous, but believe it or not, it is a symbol of the west and of the changes which happend here in the '90.

When all your bills go up by 30-40% and shortages are everywhere, interest rates at 20%+, unemployment everywhere it’s a nightmare situation for any Russia citizen. The guy at the end of the video is just saving face.

Obviously Russians can live without McDonalds or any other fast food chain. Clothing stores and many other retail outlets can be relatively easily replaces. However software, hardware, cars, trucks, planes and parts for these items are critical. Microsoft, SAP, Autodesk, Apple and CPU manufactures AMD, Intel and TSMC have all turned their backs to Russia. Many industries rely on specific parts, software and services.

Even the mining, oil and gas industry heavily relies on foreign companies and foreign technology. The Russian economy has been in decline since 2014 when GDP was around 2.3 Trillion dollars, while in 2020 it was 1.5 Trillion. The decline will only be worse because of Covid in 2021 and now with the sanctions and companies leaving Russia.

What that idiot at the end also fails to see (or mention) is the exodus of highly educated young people from Russia. You can obviously replace many products with inferior ones from Russia itself, but that will not be good enough for most people. One Russian vlogger reported that she missed her make-up brands from Europe. And she couldn’t find decent replacement from Russia.

And what about people coming to Russia to work or as toerist? Russia will still need specific skills te be imported for repairs and new projects. These people won’t like to come to a country that is basically gone back to sovjet times. There will be a black market like in North Korea, so that might help a little. And it is just the message that they are closed of to the rest of the world. How can local startups even compete with the rest of the world if they can’t access the latest technology, and the latest designs? Russia already produces very little that other countries like. Except until now oil, gas and minerals. Of which they will be selling much less of and at reduces rates. The GDP of Russia will probably drop down to around one trillion dollars, the same as my country the Netherlands. (With 400 times less landmass than Russia and 8 times less inhabitants)

The last guy is to young to have experienced a single second of the USSR. He is dreaming of something he only heard and have no first hand knowledge of. To stupid to understand isolation isn’t a dream condition it’s a nightmare!

"Have a nice trip". As a Swede, I feel you brother, writing this message from my Sony cellphone, I feel totally colonized by the Japanese. Congratulations on your future freedom, don't take our Western crap. Who wants a Mercedes AMG when you can drive a Russian automobile produced by the Russian government, freedom!

I hope and pray that he (Putin) does naturalize the foreign companies. If he does this no other western companies would ever want to do business in Russia EVER.
